Nariño

Far southwest, near Ecuador · commonly 1,700–2,300 meters

Why this place matters

Place shapes
the cup.

Nariño’s very high farms receive strong equatorial sunlight but remain cool because of altitude. Volcanic soils, steep terrain, and cold nights encourage exceptionally slow maturation and dense, sweet seeds.

Clean washed lots are common. Expect vivid citrus, florals, red fruit, concentrated sweetness, and precise acidity. Drinkers should care because Nariño shows how sunlight and cool temperatures can coexist to create remarkable intensity.

Growing conditions

Altitude changes time

Higher or cooler sites generally slow cherry maturation, allowing sugars and aromatic compounds more time to develop. Warmer sites often bring fuller body and softer acidity.

Farm to mill

People shape clarity

Selective picking, fermentation, drying, sorting, and storage determine whether the character of the place arrives cleanly in the cup.

Why care
